The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. opened our doors in 1918. At that time a few people who were blind caned chairs, weaved baskets, and made brooms. Today we are the largest employer of people who are blind on the West Coast and of people who are DeafBlind in the country. Our product line now includes office supplies for the federal government, military products for the Department of Defense, and aerospace parts for companies including Boeing.
We invite you to join us for a tour of our manufacturing facility in Seattle. Learn how machining and other manufacturing jobs have been made accessible to people who are blind and DeafBlind. Guests will also be introduced to assistive technology, braille, and other specialized training offered here at the Lighthouse. And one of our employees will even share their personal journey.
This is an event to be shared with all members of the community. Consider bringing a friend or come on your own – all are welcome!
