The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. is pleased to announce the selections for the 2022 Employees of the Year for both direct and indirect labor categories.
Nick Shively, Raymond W. Haman Direct Labor Employee of the Year
We are happy to announce that Nick Shively Production Lead INL, has been named our Raymond W. Haman Direct Labor Employee of the Year. Nick has been employed with the Lighthouse Spokane location since 2009. Nick will represent the Lighthouse at the National Industries for the Blind (NIB) conference in Washington, D.C., where he will compete with other direct labor winners from NIB-affiliated agencies for the Peter J. Salmon National Award.
Nick Shively’s Nomination
“Nick has always been a collaborator. He understands the importance of team comradery, but never takes his eye off the goal of quality and productivity. Meaning he knows when to joke around with his coworkers, and yet not as far as to lower his expectation on performance.
Nick’s leadership skills have allowed him to become a setup, where he works independently to setup production lines while still assisting his coworkers with giving them guidance in proper instruction, which transpired into his current role as Production Lead.”
David Geary, Indirect Labor Employee of the Year
We are equally as pleased to announce our Employee of the Year for indirect employees. This year the winner is David Geary, Legal HR Project Manager and Corporate Secretary.
David joined the Lighthouse team in 2008. He will also represent the Lighthouse at the NIB Conference held in October, where he will compete for NIB’s Milton J. Samuelson Career Achievement Award.
David Geary’s Nomination
“David has played a vital role at the Lighthouse during his 14 plus years with the organization. Much of the work David does is “behind the scenes” and may not be easily recognizable but that does not take away from the importance of his efforts.”
“David is very intelligent yet he’s humble about it. He embodies the organization’s top ten values and demonstrates them on a daily basis. He is called upon to support many crucial functions of the Lighthouse and he does so admirably. He is always helpful and available to coworkers and engages in such a jovial manner. From supporting the Lighthouse Board of Trustees, our Strategic Leadership Team, Human Resources as well as several other departments. Many colleagues ask for David’s advice on a regular basis because they know the advice he will give is well thought out and researched. “
Congratulations to both David and Nick! We also want to thank and congratulate the other nominees who were in the running for these awards. Being nominated is an honor and we are proud of their work and dedication to the Lighthouse.
