On April 2, 1918, The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. opened our doors and began changing the lives of people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities. Come help us celebrate this momentous occasion with a tour of our manufacturing facility, computer and braille training labs, and much more.
The Lighthouse has been providing employment opportunities for people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities for 100 years. Originally located in downtown Seattle and then for 42 years on the Seattle waterfront, the Lighthouse has been at its current location in Rainier Valley since 1967. We have expanded to include manufacturing facilities in Spokane and Summerville, South Carolina as well as Base Supply Centers along the West Coast.
Give us an hour-and-a-half of your day and we’ll share with you a slice of birthday cake and a glimpse into our rich history. This is sure to be an experience that will expand your view on the abilities of people who are blind and DeafBlind. Our story is meant to be shared – so bring a friend or come on your own and join the Lighthouse community!
