A Message from Kirk Greene, Member of the Board of Trustees for The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc.
Dear friends,
Three weeks from now, my son Brett and I will be participating in the 210 mile Seattle-to-Portland bicycle ride. This 60-year-old guy has been training for a year to prepare for the event, putting over 1,600 miles on my bike and losing 36 pounds. My 35-year-old son Brett has promised to “draft me” the whole way, so I’m as prepared as possible for this once in a lifetime father/son event. Now, I’d like to ask for your support — here’s how.
It occurred to me that if I’m crazy enough to ride a bike for 210 miles over two days, it would be nice to raise money for a charity in doing so. I serve on the board of trustees of The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. here in Seattle — and would like to ask you to sponsor my ride to benefit this wonderful organization. The Lighthouse provides over 230 people who are blind and Deaf-Blind with one of the best things in life — a good job. I like to say we provide folks with a hand-up….not a hand-out—and am very proud of this fine organization.
So, I’m asking for your support on my ride to provide jobs for people who are blind. My goal is to raise $20,000—which is about $100 per mile—so I need your generous support.
