Knowing your skills is important whether searching for your first job or making the next move on your career path. Identifying and selecting the skills to use allows a job seeker to have a more focused search.

There are many tools which guide a job seeker to find their skills. Join us as we discuss a few resources which are free and accessible.

Presenters

Cheryl Cumings is the Workforce Development Manager at the Lighthouse. Cheryl works with Lighthouse employees who are blind, DeafBlind, blind with other disabilities to facilitate their exploration of career growth. Cheryl is a former Peace Corps Volunteer and the founder of a nonprofit that provided blind students with recreational and career exploration programs. Cheryl brings her background in community outreach, health care policy, and blindness services to her current role.

Michael Martens is a Human Resources Manager at the Lighthouse. He founded and led a courier business and worked at  Skills Incorporated managing their Technical Services Division as a contracted vendor for the Microsoft Corporation – providing on-demand hardware and software testing for newly developed product lines including X-Box and Bluetooth. Michael is a Para-Olympian who uses his strengths of dedication and commitment to make the Lighthouse welcoming and fully accessible.
