Have a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?

Now you can initiate your DAF grant recommendation right from the Lighthouse website. Visit “Ways to Give” to find our new DAF Direct form. Complete the form to initiate the recommendation! Once the grant recommendation is made, the review process will be the same as if you had done it directly with your financial institution.

What is a DAF?

A donor-advised fund (DAF) provides donors with a centralized charitable giving vehicle. It allows philanthropically inclined individuals, families, and corporations to make an irrevocable charitable gift to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program and take an immediate tax deduction. Most sponsoring organizations of DAFs accept cash equivalents, securities, and certain other assets. Ask your financial institution or advisor for further information.

How Does a DAF Work?

Philanthropists like you open an account and make tax-deductible contributions to a DAF. You then recommend grants from the DAF to the charities of your choice. The DAF sponsor, generally a nonprofit financial institution, handles all the administrative details. Your DAF will issue a tax receipt with your deposit. Ask your financial institution or advisor for further information.
