Get to Know the Lighthouse – “The Lighthouse and Uncle Sam”

Loading Events

The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. has been providing employment for people who are blind for 100 years, right here in Seattle. Many locals will remember us in our earlier years for our brooms and neck ties, for our work with Boeing, and our office products for the Federal Government. But what may not be as well-known is our work with the Department of Defense and the many products we produce in support of our military.

Since 1918, the Lighthouse has grown from a handful of employees to over 260 who are blind, including nearly 40 who are DeafBlind. Here is your opportunity to visit us and tour our manufacturing facility and see firsthand how folks who are blind or DeafBlind are working all facets of production, the accessibility features put in place, and the specialized training offered to our employees. This is a behind the scenes experience with some personal touches included.

This is our final “Get To Know” event of 2018 and we’d love for you to be a part of it. Bring a friend or colleague and get ready to be inspired!

The deadline for accommodation requests is October 26, 2018.
